Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
The best musician EVER gets put in platform game. And there aren't any lying little boys and they mommas in this game.
After the Moonwalk, we can all go into a Looks like they all just ate a Kit-Kat. Fat punk... I could catch you. Just wait until
disco robot! Then the Wild Wild West! I turn into a car and run your butt over!
Ironhawk's Review
Graphics: 6 The backgrounds are far too angular from a design standpoint. I feel like I'm looking at shelving in a garage. And photo-realistic sprites just don't work when the screen is something like 320x240 and 64 colors.
Sound: 9 Five authentic Michael Jackson tracks and real Michael Jackson voice effects! Is there anything this game doesn't have? Yeah. More than 10 other sound effects.
Playability: 6 The control is simple and responsive enough, but the level designs... ugh. Every stage is like a bunch of dollhouses stacked on top of each other or sitting next to each other. Like this:
________________ ________________ ________________ ________________ _| |___/ /______ ________________ ________________ ______/ /_______ ________________ ___________| |__ _____/ /___| |__ _______| |______ \_______________ ____/ /_________ ________________ \_______| |____ __ / /_____| |__ ________________ \ \_____________ __/ /___________ ________________ _\ \____________ _/ /____________ ________________
Concept: 2
Sega exec A- Hey look, there's a pop culture
phenomenon over there.
Sega exec B- I'll get the money bag.
Retro Value: 9 There are much better games starring pop stars out there- oh wait. Better pick this one up.
Overall: 6 A mediocre platformer starring a platformer. You know, someone who wears platform shoes. That one time.
Nightowl's Review
Graphics: 9 I feel like I'm watching the music videos again... the levels were re-created to look just like the music videos. And the nice dancing animations... geez... this game looks so fricken' awesome. A couple more frames of animation here and there wouldn't hurt though. (Crotch grabbing we could do without...)
Sound: 10 Hello? Michael Jackson MIDI's...
Playability: 6 Sometimes a bit awkward, your kicks sometimes go right though your enemies. And also, you would think Michael Jackson would be able to move a little bit faster then that. But the ability to bring all of your enemies together in a well choreographed dance sequence almost makes the entire control thing worthwhile.
Concept: 10 The birth of music games...
Retro Value: 10 It's a rare one, but find it or It'll burn your house down.
Overall: 9 It's video games... and Michael Jackson... 2 of my favorite things.
