Ninja Cats

(Japan Only)

They're not fooling me. It's" Samurai Pizza Cats" except this one is a game that was a least worth it's weight in plastic.

Grrr... where in heck is my latté!?               I've never seen a cliff like that in my life...    "The Brady Bunch... The Brady Bunch..."

"Let's go save the rainforest"            Remember kids,  when someone tells you to

"Stay off the grass." Do it. Or face the wrath

                                                                of the flying house!

Ironhawk's Review

Graphics: 10    It doesn't get much better than this on the NES.  Somehow, the game world actually feels like a world instead of a 2D map.

Sound: 7          Adequate.  Some sound effects seem mis-matched like the "tweet tweet" that electricity makes.  But other than that, it's on par with other games on the system.

Playability: 5    It's got really annoying platform game elements.  Like platform-jumping and enemies that reappear the second their sprite leaves the screen.  The fact that the controller only has 2 buttons doesn't help either.  Up+B is special attack, but you'll use that by accident a lot.

Concept: 3       It's another team of Power Rangers has to defeat bad guys by switching characters on the fly game.  At least this one has ninjas in it.  And cats.

Retro Value: 8  At least it's a good switch characters on the fly game.

Overall: 8          It gets a good rating if for nothing else but the presentation.  Cutscenes, yay!

Nightowl's Review

Graphics: 10    Stellar performance here! Animated cuts scenes, non-clippie animation, and no stupid "Force Fields" around the enemies... much. This game is the graphical equivalent of Super Mario Bros. 3 if not many times better.

Sound: 6    There's nothing special here. Generic NES earthquake sounds and enemy explosions.

Playability: 9    It's a pick up and play platformer. But some of the abilities are tough to use when you're in a hurry. The ability to juggle enemies that require multiple hits makes life a lot easier.

Concept: 9    It's a game where you NEED you switch between characters on the fly. It's ingenious... the "Oddworld" precursor!

Retro Value: 8    Import (or download)  it if you ever have the chance. But don't go out of your way you lowly Xbox buyer (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!)

Overall: 9    You don't find many platformers of this caliber on NES. This game clearly had a lot of thought put into it (And wasn't made off a TV show.)
