Transformers: The Video Game

More then meets the eye! You're Optimus Prime!  Leader of the Autobots, and... that's about it. You fight random flying robots (Starscreem?) and play through nine impossible levels... after the ninth level... it repeats...it repeats...it repeats...it repeats...it repeats...it repeats...

Ironhawk's Review

Graphics: 2    Wow!  This game looks as good as Super Mario Land on the Gameboy.  Only it's in color!

Sound: 0        "It's time to turn it up."  No further comments.

Playability: 0   This game is totally unplayable.  You hold up or down on the controller for two seconds to make Optimus transform, so you'll do it by accident a lot.  And they throw dumb, DUMB enemies at you on set paths, but there are so many of them that you will still die every five seconds.

Concept: 1      Its a licensed platformer.  Nothing original here.  It gets a point for the transforming.

Retro Value: 1 Once you've gotten your fill of Transformers Armada (yuck), check out this Japan-only game.

Overall: 0        I didn't know this game existed for the longest and I was comfortable with my life.  Those were the days...

Graphics: 1    I'm sorry, but I've seen better backgrounds in Looping on Colecovision. And Optimus just isn't very cool to look at. And the fact that there are a total of three backgrounds for nine levels just doesn't impress me.  And "Planet Bosses"?

Sound: 0    Have you ever heard claws on a chalkboard? Yeah... it's like that. Only louder.

Playability:    0    You're lucky if you can even make it past the first enemy in the game. The control is Willy-Nilly.  WHEN YOU DO MAKE IT TO THE NINTH LEVEL, IT JUST REPEATS!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Concept:    10    It's Transformers, it deserves to have it's own game.

Retro Value:    1    It's Transformers... more then meets the eye.  You HAVE to pick it up if it's really, really, really, really, really, really, cheap.
