Looney Tunes B-Ball

Yeah... we be hoopin' on the west side yo... with some anvils. Before there was Space Jam, the Tunes sometimes played street ball to pass the time.

Ironhawk's Review

Graphics: 9     The Looney Tunes have good sprites- it really helps bring the game to life.  The backgrounds (okay, "background") is alright.

Sound: 9         Good sound effects and voice-clips from the 'Tunes themselves.  Most excellent.

Playability: 8    It plays like your standard NBA Jam game, except you can use special items such as the Vegas or the Cream Pie.  The playability gets knocked down a point because everyone just goes for the Vegas, which lets you multiply your next shot by 1, 2, 3, or 5 (or you could lose points but everyone still goes for the Vegas).

Concept: 9       Well, apparently someone thinks the Looney Tunes playing basketball is a good idea, since they've been doing it a lot lately.  Space Jam 2!  This time they go to 3D land to help out Mike's team, the Washington Wizards.  And get their butts handed to them.

Retro value: 8   If you have any sort of side-scrolling basketball game, you have to have this one too.

Overall: 9         One of the classics.

Nightowl's Review

Graphics: 9    There's not much to look at... it's a basketball game. But what there is, looks phenomenal! You can see the individual grooves in the pavement and stuff. And there are warn-out chalk outlines like real inner-city courts.

Sound: 6    This would get a 10... but considering the fact that there's only one in-game music track.... yeah, you get the idea. The sound bites from all your favorite Looney Tunes are there in really high quality for a cartridge game

Playability: 10    There were very few basketball games back then. But the control in this one is better then some other games (Barkley Shut-Up and Jam) The controls are intuitive and very tight.

Concept: 10    It's the very first street ball game. And you can't get much better then it.

Retro value: 9    If you find a multi-tap anywhere... this is the one reason you should buy it.

Overall: 9    It's a rare find. But with luck you might just find a copy.  Do so, or the gods of gaming shall smite you.
